Meditate for a change
My first introduction into meditation came through sobriety. Realizing that the way I was dealing with the world and my place in it was not sustainable or acceptable to me anymore I began to seek other ways to live in the chaos that is New York. Through trial and excess I learned that materialism and external stimuli could not bring long term happiness, so I began to look within.
Over the last 8 years I have studied many different techniques and ideologies to help bring about a state of balance and awareness in my life. Exploring Buddhism, Reiki, Yoga,Shamanism and many other modalities I have found moments calmness and clarity that have opened me up to my life's work. Making the transition into a teacher helping others along their path is where I meet you. My partner and I lead a meditation group in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Madeline brings her passion and backgound in social activism and Womens empowerment to her practice and teachings. We offer classes in vipassana, loving-kindness, silent and guided meditations. Welcoming all levels, we cater to the beginner helping them build a strong practice that they can assimilate into their daily lives. We created this space to build community and deepen our own practices. For many, the class has become a sanctuary to retreat to and focus on ourselves for an hour. We deserve an hour a week, don't we? Or, will it make us want more? Classes meet Tuesdays from 8:15-9:15pm @ Lucky Lotus Yoga 184 dekalb Avenue (off Carlton) Brooklyn, New York 11215 www.luckylotusyoga.com
